SECOND TO NONE by julia e antoine

When Elizabeth inherits an unexpected windfall from her great-aunt, she’s determined to either reject it or donate it to charity. She’s a simple young woman, living a modest life. She doesn’t need the attention that comes with being an heiress, but against her better judgement, she accepts the inheritance. Now, suddenly, relatives are coming out of the woodwork claiming to have known her when she was little. To escape the hoard of cousins, she flees to Alaska and purchases a homestead in Barrow, where her great-aunt spent the last forty years of her life.

Elizabeth is finally rid of her grasping, needy cousins and is looking forward to settling down in the peace and quiet of Barrow. Buther peace is challenged beyond reason by her neighbor, the dark and dangerouslyhandsome RohanPrice.

Wealthy in his own right, Rohan was tired of society’s restrictionsin the Lower 48 and has returned to his roots, his family homestead in Barrow, Alaska. There he’s in tune with nature, at home with the wild life that made Alaska their home. He doesn’t expect anything to interrupt his peaceful life until the delectable Elizabeth moves onto the neighboring property. Sheis constantly demanding his help, and in the beginning, his intentions are pure, as he recognizes Elizabeth as a strong-willed, passionate woman. But it goes against the grain to not do what neighbors do in Alaska, help each other.

That’s all well and good until they become stranded together onecold long winter in Barrow—sixty-seven days of darkness. Their close proximity in continuous darknessforces them to acknowledge the desire that has been growing between from day one.Rohan is determined to convince Elizabeth in the language of his ancestors that they are destined to be together.
